Option 1
Site Visit 1 – ArcelorMittal’s Steelanol Project and Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant in Ghent
Attendees will have the opportunity to see:
• ArcelorMittal’s Steelanol pilot project, capable of recycling carbon-rich industrial gases and transform into advanced sustainable ethanol to further reduce their carbon emissions. The process will allow for the capture and reuse of a portion of carbon emitted by the steel industry without need to rebuild the BAT (Best Available Technologies) steel plant while supplying the transport sector with high grade biofuel.
• Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant – a multi-purpose state-of-the-art facility that supports the process development, scale-up and custom manufacturing of biobased products and processes.
Places are limited!
Option 2
Site Visit 2 – Smulders Projects Belgium and D-CRBN, a CCUS tech disruptor in Antwerp
Attendees will get an in-depth view of decarbonisation tech and plans with this two part tour:
• An interactive site visit to Smulders Projects Belgium. Join us to see how one of Europe’s leading steel construction companies (serving industry, civil infra projects and offshore wind construction) is decarbonising their operations. You’ll tour the production facility of steel foundations for offshore windmills, substations and other large constructions followed by an interactive discussion about their CO2 reduction plans.
• Part two of the tour sees you visiting D-CRBN whose CCUS climate tech takes industrial co2 emissions and converts it for use in biofuels, chemicals and polymers. Explore how their plasma-based technology recycles captured CO2 and splits it into carbon monoxide (CO). This can then be converted in feedstocks for various value-added products. Attendees will visit the lab and see the unique prototype and learn about the application and scale up of the technology.
Lunch, refreshments and transport will be provided
